Sam Parker!

Hey guys! My name is Sam Parker, I am 15, and a Freshman in high school. I have been home schooled since 1st grade, so it is pretty much all I've ever known.  I come from a rather large family.  I have four brothers and sisters. My older sister Josie is 16.  My younger brother Ben is 13. My little sister Anna is 8, and the youngest of the bunch, Matthew, is 5. I have always enjoyed the hustle and bustle that accompanies living with so many!

A little about me: God is the most important thing in my life, and I strive to put Him first in EVERYTHING I do, be it an online class, or a pickup game of hockey.  My favorite Bible verse in Galatians 2:20: I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.  If we truly devote our lives to Christ, our old selves, marred by sin, will peel away and 'behold, we will become new'.  I rejoice in the thought that earth is not my true home, that I will one day live in paradise with my Lord and Savior.
I love to read, give me a stack of good books, and you may not hear from me for a while. My favorite books (not counting the Bible) are 'The Lord of the Rings' trilogy by J.R.R. Tolkien, the 'Killing Lincoln' by Bill O'Reilly, 'Flags of Our Fathers' by John Bradley, 'The Outsiders' by S.E. Hinton, as well as many others.  I love writing too, especially journalism, and I write for my Co-Op newsletter, the WRC Current.  I plan to go into journalism as a profession.  I am a major sports fanatic. I play soccer, and have for a number of years. I love to watch NFL football and professional baseball. I am a rabid Chicago Cubs enthusiast, unfortunately, as well as a Chicago Bears fan. I have been referred to as a baseball textbook. My sports life certainly is a sad one. I love music, and have played the piano for 6 or 7 years now. I am the lead singer for a little group called 'Gateway' (John 10:9).  I am fascinated with politics and theology, love history, and I think that the best movie quote ever comes from 'A Few Good Men' (coincidentally the best movie ever): "You can't handle the truth!"

I write the Wolrdview column for the Peacherino Monthly, and it is something I enjoy very much.  I hope you enjoy reading our newsletter as much as we enjoy writing it.
